Last May 9, 2015, the School of Kawaii S.Y. 2015-2016 had officially opened its campus doors with its first ever workshop entitled, “Let’s Draw Cute Things with Little Miss Paintbrush,” under kawaii sensei, ChiChi Romero, a.k.a. Little Miss Paintbrush (LMP)! The workshop was held at The Bunny Baker Cafe and Cake Studio–a very cute and dainty location that really matched well with the feel of the workshop!

Apart from raising funds for kawaii PH’s future events, activities, and more of the like, the cost for the workshops also comes with other perks (depending on the workshop). For this particular workshop, said perks include: a free meal from The Bunny Baker, a workshop kit, and a “Kawaii Alumni” kit.

This workshop’s kawaii sensei is ChiChi Romero ( Little Miss Paintbrush ), a Philippine-based artist who is also the Creative Head of Japan Lover Me, Main Kawaii Artist/Illustrator of Kawaii Philippines, a contributing illustrator of the hit tween mag Total Girl Philippines, and the owner of the handmade crafts brand Whimsicute. ✿ (You may find more of her works on her website: www.littlemisspaintbrush.tumblr.com)

For this specific workshop, the students got to learn how LMP draws basic cute things.  Many different kinds of drawing exercises were given to the students, such as learning how to draw faces in different angles, learning how to apply shapes, lines, perspectives, proportions, and much more! Chichi also threw in some personal tips of her own so that the students can get a better view of how she herself does her drawings. Afterwards, the students were able to apply what they’ve learned through a drawing session wherein they were able to create their own kawaii artworks!

With a workshop limited to just 15 participants, the workshop successfully achieved a more direct and intimate environment wherein participants were able to receive individualized coaching, hands-on practice, and personalized feedback.

Working with a small group of passionate individuals also allowed for a more interactive, dynamic, and  in-depth experience. Not only were the participants able to learn, but they were also able to meet and network with others who share the same passion and interests as them.

Aside from Chichi’s lecture, there was also a short bonus activity sponsored by Whimsicute and Dolly Kaye: a kawaii crafting session wherein the students got to learn how to make their own mori-kei badge clip (a cute accessory which you can use as a hairclip or a brooch/badge!).
